Play Apollo Bay 2011: and the winner is.... Andrea Barnett

Melbourne based singer song writer Andrea Barnett is this year's winner of ABC Victoria's Play Apollo Bay song writing competition.

774 ABC Melbourne Evenings presenter Derek Guille, manager of ABC Dig Music, Tony Walker and Apollo Bay Music Festival Director, Caroline Moore selected the winners from over 100 entries.

This year we asked entrants to write a song about 'change' which forms part the Festival's Finding a Voice through the Arts project and we also encouraged reference to Vanda and Young, another Festival theme.

Caroline Moore, Festival Director says "This song travels nicely, is well crafted and is beautiful, Andrea covered both of the entry criteria and we look forward to having her as part of the 2011 Apollo Bay Music Festival."

Andrea will perform her winning song at a special candlelight concert on the9th April 2011 Saturdaynight of Festival along with Rob Hirst, Rebecca Barnard, David Hosking, Audrey Auld and others.

She also gets to perform her own 25 minute set at theSessions Bar 3.30 - 4 pm on Sunday 10th April (located within the ABC Radio Stage). She joins a star Festival lineup of over 70 acts including Washington, James Butt, The Good Lovlies, Rosie Flores, Peter Rowan Blue Grass Band and many more.
