In 2000 Andrea burst into the Melbourne Fringe Festival with cabaret show ‘Amazonian Lady’, soon after winning first prize in the Australian Songwriters Association competition for her wacky track ‘When I Lived Alone’. Her album ‘Loose Ends’ followed, exploring the search for identity, love and meaning, earning two more top 10 placings from the ASA. Her songwriting veered towards societal and environmental welfare – in 2011 Andrea won the ABC Melbourne ‘Play Apollo Bay’ competition with ‘Friday On My Mind 2’, a reflective sequel to the Easybeat’s 60s hit, earning radio play and festival performances. After appearing at the city of Wyndham’s Red festival, Andrea was invited to perform ‘Live @ the Stage’ at Wyndham Cultural Centre. In 2017 she released her 2nd studio album ‘Seeking Me Finding We’, an acoustic take on the true and the new, and has since moved to Port Stephens NSW (Worimi country) where she has embraced the vibrant Hunter music scene. Her latest online venture is I write songs that make me sing where she performs sings and talks about the inspiration behind them. Visit andreabarnettmusic for upcoming venue gigs.
Apollo Bay Music Director Caroline Moore: “This song (Friday on my Mind 2) travels nicely, is well crafted and is beautiful”.
Wyndham Council: “Andrea’s heartfelt melodies will remain with you long after the curtain closes”. |
